“Hungarian state tourism agency Magyar Turizmus will receive Ft 5 billion in state funding next year, Ft 500 million more than in 2007,” director Iván Róna told reporters.“Including its own Ft 500 million income, the total marketing budget will rise to Ft 4.4 billion, of which Ft 3 billion will be spent abroad,” he said. Magyar Turizmus’ goal is to increase domestic visitor guest nights to over 10 million and foreign guest nights to 10.2 million.
The agency plans to step out onto the international arena with a stronger brand image for Hungary, with campaign focal points being Budapest, the Balaton area, health-tourism and 2010 European City Of Culture Pécs. Health resorts and waterside holidays will be the main elements of the marketing campaign for the domestic market.”
