"The municipality of Budapest is currently seeking a solution to the legal and constitutional obstacles to the development of a new governmental district around Budapest's Nyugati train station, Mayor Gábor Demszky told local radio station Klubrádió this morning. “Our goal is to make the proposal above reproach from the legal point of view," he said.According to Demszky, improving road infrastructure and public transport in the area is a crucial part of the project. The Mayor's office and the Treasury Asset Directorate have jointly drafted a multilateral agreement, also to be signed by the District 6 municipality and private investors. However, lack of adequate funding for public transport development may pull the plug on the proposal, Demszky said.
When asked an interview question inquiring into the possibility that the project may not happen at all, Demszky replied, “Maybe."
