'Renaissance Waxworks', Budapest, Váci Utca 31/c
"Have you ever tried to imagine how life could have been more than 500 years ago in the court of the legendary King Matthias Corvinus during Hungary’s most glorious age?

Take a trip into the past and see for yourself what made Matthias great. Take a look around renaissance Hungary! The king awaits you!

2008 – Renaissance Year, Matthias Hunyadi memorial year
2008 is Hungary’s Renaissance Year. It is an opportunity not only to mark the 550th anniversary of the coronation of King Matthias but also to renew cultural and social life by showing that at that time – Matthias’ age – Hungary was a leading power in the arts, science and culture. As Galeotto Marzio, the chronicler of the age, noted; “if somebody wanted to see Europe it was enough to visit Buda.” Europe was here!

The content of the exhibition
The waxwork exhibition presents the ‘pearls of the middle ages’ - Hungary’s renaissance age - in five scenes featuring 29 figures. The exhibition is based on credible historic facts. The clothing, drapes and other materials reproduce the colours, forms and technologies – hand stitched clothes and hand carved furniture – of the period.

The aim of the exhibition is to reach out to a wider audience and improve their knowledge of the age. This is achieved through the formation of a complex experience of the sites and interiors of the period."
