'Blind Boys of Alabama', National Concert Hall, 26 March

'Blind Boys of Alabama', National Concert Hall, 26 March
"This choir was formed in 1939 in the Alabama Institute for the Afro-American Blind. The singers are now in their seventies but eternally youthful and they still lead the gospel music charts. Over the past four years they have won a Grammy Award annually.

The Blind Boys are masters of the most spiritual light music but have a knack of bringing sacral music to profane venues. For the past four decades their repertoire has been traditional gospel music but in the past five years, they have presented arrangements of songs by Tom Waits and Prince, as well as participated in shows and recordings by Peter Gabriel and Ben Harper.

The band is hugely popular and besides many awards, remains committed to their original mission: to do God's work in new and inspiring ways."
