"In the spring of 2008, Műcsarnok presents for the first time what is planned to be an annual celebration of fashion, a two-day event that seeks to establish links with the European scene by featuring some of the finest fashion houses from a different country each year.What distinguishes Nation & Fashion is that it welcomes not only professionals but also a general public interested in the collections of foreign fashion houses.
The 2008 event offers – under the aegis of, and with support from, the Renaissance Year – a view into the most recent developments in the fashion life of Italy, a superpower of world couture, and the cradle of Renaissance culture. This fashion weekend showcases the prêt-à-porter collections of the spring/summer of 2008, from eight premier design houses. The eight brands presented testify to the variety and fascination of Italian fashion.
The unique space of Műcsarnok will be enhanced by an original, minimalist decor, high-tech sound and lighting, and a 35-metre purpose-built catwalk, on which thirty models – prepared by a 12-strong crew of hairstylists and makeup artists – will highlight the artistic qualities of the fashion designer’s work. The shows of the Nation & Fashion weekend will faithfully follow the Milan model in hairstyle, makeup and music.
During the intervals between the individual shows, visitors can preview images of the 2008 autumn/winter collections on large displays.
