"Free Democrat chairman János Kóka said goodbye to Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány before regular business in Parliament Monday afternoon with a warm handshake while opposition leaders burst into laughter.Kóka added to what Magyar Hírlap describes as an “emotional moment” by kissing the departing Free Democrat Health Minister Ágnes Horváth, and shaking hands with Environment Minister Gábor Fodor and Economy Ministry state secretary Gábor Dióssy with a broad smile. Kóka said his party will leave the coalition on Wednesday, stressing that the party’s goal is not to unseat the Socialist minority government. Turning to the opposition benches, he promised “dignified oppositional conduct”.
Gyurcsány underlined that the door remains open for the Free Democrats to return to the coalition, but the government must be revamped so it can pursue significant work and ensure an open contest at the 2010 parliamentary elections."
