VOLT Festival, 2-5 July, Featuring Manu Chao & Cypress Hill

VOLT Festival, 2-5 July, Featuring Manu Chao & Cypress Hill
"Besides 250 other artists performing between 2 - 5 July, the Soproni Main Stage will host the Manu Chao Radio Bemba Sound System and Cypress Hill.

Sziget Cultural Management have announced the participation of a number of Hungarian and International artists at VOLT Festival Sopron. Each festival day is about to feature several international superstars beside many other artists.

It has been a vexed question for quite a while if Manu Chao will return after last year's immense success. The Spanish-Basque superstar luckily does not seem to withstand the invitations of this year's European festival circuit. The evening of 4th July surely has an extremely energetic performance in store for VOLT goers.

Manu Chao is noted for being rather picky in terms of venues, making his choices meticulously with respect to every minor detail. Small wonder it took several weeks of negotiations with the organizers of VOLT Festival before they concluded an agreement after sharing information on technical background, the other artists in the line-up and the sponsorship circle. It seems a really prestigious acknowledgement for VOLT Festival that it eventually made the team of the few European festivals that are honoured by featuring Manu Chao. The setlist will possibly feature the classic Manu Chao smashes and more recent hits alike.

Thursday line-up offers an eclectic night meeting all possible demands. Main Stage hosts British drum and bass prophets Roni Size with live band performance Reprazent, to begin with. They are followed by the Balkani feast by Goran Bregovic. At 11 PM the floor is to the most successful and coolest latin-hip-hop posse of all times, Cypress Hill, California. It's always a unique experience to see such a classic hip-hop crew that survived decades, created generational anthems and have been making huge masses dance all over the planet.

“The overwhelming success of the fifteenth VOLT raised an extremely high standard. We had planned to make the list of headliners public much earlier but unfortunately more and more festivals are scheduled simultaneously which made it harder to reach agreement with the managements of headliners.

Looking at this year's line-up which -beside Manu Chao and Cypress Hill – features Offspring, Dreadzone, Tosca, Frank Popp, Shantel, Tiga and Nouvelle Vague, we are entitled to hope to repeat last year's success. The pith of the festival, though, is about to be provided by a number of Hungarian bands performing on ten stages. This year's novelties are the four day long theatre-festival, several art exhibitions and programmes for children. Do not hesitate to visit VOLT homepage for the detailed schedule of programmes in the following weeks.” - as told by Zoltán Fülöp and Norbert Lobenwein.

Tickets and passes are available at the main ticket offices, at the VOLTShop on Klauzál square and at VOLT homepage."
