"The weak ahead is far from being dense in terms of macroeconomic data in Hungary. Important figures will be published on Tuesday and Thursday alone. Eyes will be on the Finance Ministry's details about budget processes in May on Tuesday, construction industry numbers for April and wage data for April due out on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. The Finance Ministry is to hold a press conference tomorrow, with the aim of shedding light on budgetary processes in the fifth month of the year when the ministry's HUF 88.6 bn estimate was overshot, as the surplus came in at HUF 97.5 bn.
This has taken the January-May cumulated deficit down to HUF 424.8 bn (on a cash flow basis, excluding local governments), which corresponds to 38.9% of the full-year target of HUF 1,110.7 bn.
The Central Statistics Office (KSH) is set to release construction figures for April on Wednesday and earnings also for April on Thursday. The former will let us see whether the contraction of the sector ahs continued or not, while the latter could be of great importance at the Monetary Council's next policy meeting scheduled for 23 June.
