The head of the Hungarian Publishers and Book Distributors Association (MKKE), Péter László Zentai, called the Finance Ministry's interpretation of the printer's role, and the resulting 20% rise in VAT, wrong. The FinMin has argued that printers do not provide a finished product; rather they provide a service, which means they should invoice VAT at 25%, not 5%. Zentai said the move will destroy the industry's competitiveness. (Econews; Nb 1)
