Electricity price hike "in the air"

A hike in the price of electricity "is in the air," the government spokesperson said following a cabinet meeting yesterday, adding that a way would be found to keep energy prices from exceeding inflation for the most vulnerable sectors of the public. The economics minister should have a proposal on the table this week on a welfare-based tariff system, Boglár László said. She declined to give the date for the power price hike but said the welfare-based tariff system should be in effect by the time it occurred. (MTI; Vg 1, 8, Nb 15)
