First up this week is a quick reminder about the Xpat Film Guide Xpat Film Guide which is totally refreshed each week.
Community feedback confirms it's a great way to get local film news including: pictures; reviews; links and show times for every movie playing locally in English.
Munich starring Eric Bana, Daniel Craig , Geoffrey Rush, is one of the new films this week.
Next here's a fresh except from 'Budapest: A Critical Guide'.
"Places to meet a Budapest Friend: One should not set up an appointment with a Budapest person in the open air, especially not in the winter. They tend not to be on time, not exact time, at any rate. So try to agree an appointment indoors, preferably in a place which does not cost you anything.
Morning - The big oak table in the main hall of the Museum of Ethnography, the former Supreme Court. (V. Kossuth Lajos tér 12. Closed on Monday.)
Afternoon - The ground floor covered courtyard of Budapest Central Library, head office, in the former stables, now café. (VIII. Szabó Ervin tér. Closed on Sunday, unfortunately.)
Evening - Café Muvész, the inner room. Traditional splendour, elderly clientele - but not at that hour. (VI. Andrássy út 29.)
After most places have closed - Nagymami Palacsintázója. ('Grandma's Pancake Bar') A round the clock Hungarian style pancake bar, with every conceivable kind of filling, sweet and sour, with meat or without. (I. Batthyány tér 2.)
At 5 a.m. - Copy General where you are likely to bump into architecture students desperately trying to meet their last deadline, and some eccentric composers with fresh music to be given to the string quartet the coming morning."
Reproduced with permission, thanks to arts manager, policymaker, lecturer and author Török András.
Just click on his name to read the fresh Xpat Interview for this week - by the way, if you fancy taking up the '20 quick-fire question' challenge feel free to send in your choice of answers.
Now down below is your regular guide to many community, classical and contemporary events e.g. tonight you might fancy Tátrai Tibor Latin Duo at the new Ypsilon Cafe, if not then perhaps Mozart Festival at the Palace of Arts with conductor Harry Spence Lyth could be for you on Saturday.
Always giving you something good to talk about; to participate in; and to benefit from are the aims of this newsletter.
Here's hoping you enjoy what's in XS for you this week.
Yours with kind regards,
