Budapest's Nonstop Night Scene: Piaf is still going strong |
"One of the longer-running late-night spots in the city, Piaf at 25 Nagymezo Utca, 112-3823, has managed to keep an authentic Budapest atmosphere. One reason is that actors from a nearby theater keep a table reserved every night after the show. Upstairs there is a small, dimly lighted boite for drinking and talking at small, very low tables.
In the upstairs room, the decor features red velour walls, gold sconces and red lamp shades fringed with gold tassels. An outsized portrait of Edith takes pride of place. Open daily from 10 P.M. to 6 A.M."
