U.S. Ambassador Foley Leads Successful Outreach to Debrecen

U.S. Ambassador Foley Leads Successful Outreach to Debrecen
"On November 13, Ambassador Foley spoke to more than a hundred students at the University of Debrecen about the history-making U.S. elections.

In her remarks, she noted that voters chose the first African American president, as well as the fact that Americans voted in record numbers and almost half of all Americans used the Internet or text messaging to participate in the campaign.

She also emphasized that the new administration will continue to support close relations between Hungary and the United States. Following her discussion, Ambassador Foley presented the university with a large collection of American Studies books.

During her visit, Ambassador Foley discussed economic and political issues with Mayor Lajos Kósa, spoke about women’s empowerment at the American Corner, and paid a visit to the Debrecen Jewish community to denounce violence and intolerance in the wake of a recent attack against the Jewish community there."
