"The day-long BKV strike originally planned for May 27 has been postponed until Thursday and Friday, May 29 and 30, strike committee spokesman Gábor Nemes announced on Friday, after the latest round of talks between BKV unions and management failed to yield any results.A strike will be held by the bus and trolleybus union, while tram and metro union members will not stop working next Thursday and Friday.
Newly-appointed Transport Minister Pál Szabó attended the strike talks, as did Socialist deputy mayor Miklós Hagyó and Free Democrat deputy mayor Imre Ikvai-Szabó. The two deputy mayors pledged to formulate short, medium and long-term strategies for BKV. One of the unions’ main demands is to obtain guarantees for the stabilisation of BKV’s finances by late June.
BKV spokeswoman Karola Kiricsi said consultations with the trade unions will continue on Monday."
