'Black Red…' Festival Theatre, 25 November

'Black Red…' Festival Theatre, 25 November
"It is no coincidence that we have borrowed the title of Sándor Kányádi’s poem for our programme.

This verse was not just the ‘cult verse’ of the dance house movement, which signified the rediscovery of folk art in the late 20th century, but the verse also implies that the movement encouraged numerous superb artists to work in parallel with the movement whose legendary choreographies are now nowhere to be seen.

In the first half of the programme, the dance company brings to life some of the most important thematic folkdance choreographies of the past thirty years in juxtaposition with the original dance tradition which provided their starting point. (They naturally present all the results gained while learning the original dances, which were made possible mainly due to the blossoming of the dance movement.)

We hope that these creations, which are filled with artistic content and in which the choreographic ideal is primary, can happily co-exist on the stage alongside creations that aim merely to show off the aesthetic and musical joys of authentic dance. In the second half of the concert, we will continue with ‘parallels’, but through more recent works.
With this programme, we would like to pay homage to the dance house movement, and to those still living members of the Hungarian school of choreography working at that time, who contributed to the world success of Hungarian dance with their work”.

In the programme, we can see a choreography each from Katalin Györgyfalvay, Jolán Foltin, Antal Kricskovics, Ferenc Novák, Sándor Tímár to whom we would like to express our gratitude for allowing their works to be shown again.
Additional choreographers: László Diószegi, Dezső Fitos, Zsuzsa Vincze
Music editor: Ferenc Kiss
Director-choreographer: Zoltán Zsuráfszky

Ticketprices: 1200.- 3000.- 3500.- HUF
