"Hungarian-owned food retail chain CBA has proposed that all large food retailers should remain closed on Sundays.Weekend opening hours are well-regulated in other European countries, but Hungary’s employment rules provide the same conditions for stores on the weekend as on weekdays, a company press release noted.
It is not necessary for food retailers to be open every day of the week, said sales director Katalin Neubauer. The closure of hyper and supermarkets for one day would be a lifesaver for smaller companies in the food retail business, she added. CBA argues that Sunday closure would not harm trade, but would be favourable for both employees and consumers."
