"The end of the year is getting closer and closer and with it our most beautiful celebration, Christmas. Just like last year you can prepare for the festivities at the Christmas Rendezvous on Kosztolányi Dezső Square.And to be sure that everybody will find the most beautiful gift for their loved ones the event will also be held at second location near-by on Móricz Zsigmond Square , despite the metro construction works there.
The fair, organised at the request of the local district council of Újbuda, will have a distinct character at the two locations. On the bank of The Bottomless Lake under decorated trees special and exclusive gifts will be on offer alongside heated event marquees and food and drink specialities. Meanwhile at the busy Móricz Zsigmond Square you can select the most beautiful gifts from a winding line of kiosks. Both locations are in the 11 th district of Budapest and are easily accessible by public transport.
The main attraction of last year was the gigantic, floating, illuminated Christmas tree on the Bottomless Lake and it will be there again this year in the weeks before the fair as the festivities get closer. The popular Friendship Fire will be lit again and children can visit Father Christmas and his sack full of goodies. This year will feature for the first time a 1.5 metre wide Advent Crown and the candles will be lit during open-air, ecumenical mass.
Amongst the stalls selling real values at both locations it will be possible to find publishers, decorative and practical ceramics and porcelain, wrought iron products, bottled wines and spirits, hand-made jewellery and gifts, herbal soaps, woollen goods, floral items, wooden toys and many, many more beautiful gifts.
The marquee on Kosztolányi Dezső Square will feature cultural programmes on weekday afternoons and children’s craft and play areas at the weekends, especially for families.
