"Private health care company HospInvest on Saturday took over control of Eger’s Markhot Ferenc hospital for 20 years. HospInvest has recruited 130-140 doctors, nurses, assistants and other experts, as 602 employees who oppose the privatisation of the hospital are leaving with severance pay. Another 840 are staying on.Anti-privatisation activists staged a candlelight demonstration at 11 p.m. Friday night, with Jobbik MEP candidate Krisztina Morvai and movement president Gábor Vona taking part. They announced that the 602 who refused to work for the private company will set up a foundation and will wait for HospInvest to leave.
HospInvest president Gábor Kollányi said it could be weeks before the hospital is functioning smoothly, as plans were disrupted by the tension of the past few months.
The company will report unspecified damage done to the children’s ward to the police. The flow of patients is normal and care is not disturbed, the company said."
