'Jarmo Saari Solu', First Time In Budapest, 20 October

'Jarmo Saari Solu', First Time In Budapest, 20 October
"Finland always has pleasant surprises to offer when it comes to music. In 2004, “Huutajat” - the Shouting Mens Choir – performed the Hungarian National Anthem, not singing but shouting. In 2005, an extravagant accordion magician Kimmo Pohjonen invaded the stage in Budapest. Now it is Jarmo Saari Solu’s turn!

Jarmo Saari is one of the most original European musicians of the last decade. Besides being an active participant in the ethno-jazz formation Zetaboo, he is one of the main figure of the Finnish avant-garde and fusion music scene. He is both a virtuoso guitarist and a diligent audio laboratory researcher.

He creates a unique blend of electronic sounds and traditional acoustic phenomena. In the course of his multifarious activity he has composed an album-length jazz suite (recorded by Trilok Gurtu with the Espoo Big Band); with his band, the Jarmo Saari Filmtet, he has reorchestrated the music of many classical Finnish films; his first solo CD, Solu, appeared in 2004, while its pair and continuation, The Making of Love, was released this year. On both recordings ethereal harmonies mingle with a dirty, scratchy guitar sound, and previously unheard sounds emerge from seemingly familiar melodies.

In cooperation of Budapest Autumn Festival, A38 Ship and Finnagora.
Tickets: 2000 HUF from the office of the Budapest Autumn Festival.
