"This festival started successfully on Wednesday 30 July with a concert of the 30-year old Tomkins Vocal Ensemble. They have mastered an outstandingly wide repertoire, from Gregorian and Renaissance to contemporary music.

An evening of poetry and music featuring Viktor Massányi – bass; Dániel Potyók – tenor; Gyökér Gabriella – piano; and Judit Danyi and Zoltán Hegedűs – actors. Songs composed by Richard Strauss, Hugo Wolf, Benjamin Britten and Dmitry Shostakovich on the poems written by Michelangelo.

Children’s Choir of the Japanese Radio

The NHK TOKYO Children’s Choir was founded in 1952. From its 230 members (ages 7-17) 80 will be performing in Kecskemét (ages 10-14). The world première of Hungarian composer Miklós Kocsár’s ‘Nyár van, nyár’ (It’s summertime) will be a special treat at the concert.

Kecskemét Symphony Orchestra
Conductor: László Gerhát

The program includes Bartók’s Divertimento, Brahms’ Double Concerto for Violin and Cello, and Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Julia – overture fantasy. Featuring Katalin Kokas – violin; Dóra Kokas – cello; Barnabás Kelemen – guest concertmaster.

The Kecskemét Symphony (founded in 1966) has been led by László Gerhát for twelve years. During this period, the orchestra has had an active role in the musical life of the city and the region.

Program subject to change.

Festival Pass: 3500 HUF (valid for any 4 concerts of the Kodály Festival)

Tickets and passes are available in the Erdei Ferenc Cultural and Conference Center on weekdays from 16 June between 3 - 7 PM, in the Tourinform Office (at the corner of the City Hall by the Great Church) every day between 10 AM - 7 PM and at the venues one hour prior to the performance.
