Malév Enhances Madrid Route

Malév Enhances Madrid Route
"Malév is increasing the number of its weekly Madrid services by four. From 28 October, Boeing 737NG aircraft of the national carrier will ply the route between the capitals of Hungary and Spain 11 times a week instead of the current seven.

The until now daytime-only flights will be complemented with a Monday-Sunday evening departure to Madrid, which makes the return journey to Budapest the following morning. The established and highly popular daytime Malév connections link the two capitals on Mondays, Wednesday, Friday and Sundays.

The new service ensures a convenient and rapid transfer in the Spanish capital to oneworld member Iberia's Central and South American route network, for instance to Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. Thanks to this Malév travellers making the transfer in Madrid can awake in the morning fully refreshed and on the other side of the world. Malév’s new Madrid timetable is equally useful for Spanish business travellers: the early morning Budapest arrival and evening return flight allows them to arrange business in Budapest in a single day, if so required. At the same time the new daily flight also provides an ideal connection option in Budapest between Spain and eastern destinations, which is particularly important considering that the Malév Madrid service is highly popular with travellers from Eastern Europe.

In the first eight months of the year there was growth of 6% in passenger numbers on the Malév Madrid route against the same period of 2006. Furthermore, 20% more business customers took advantage of the flights.
The airline expects the new Spanish flight to result in further growth in traffic and an even greater increase in the proportion of business travellers flying between Madrid, Budapest and cities in Eastern Europe.
