New VirusBuster Cooperations

New VirusBuster Cooperations
– Kaspersky Lab chose VirusBuster for its managed security service – OPSWAT: OESISOK and Metascan – VirusBuster can be used officially in NAP, NAC, and TNC systems

Since 2000, the year of the beginning international cooperations The VirusBuster Scan Engine was integrated into several security vendor's product, including:
– Agnitum (Outpost Pro Security suite)
– Australian Project (ZondexGuard Desktop anti-virus protection)
– Balabit (Zorp Virus filtering in Application Layer Firewall)
– Central Command (Vexira Full VirusBuster product line rebrand)
– Leprechaun (VirusBUSTER II Desktop antivirus protection)
– Microsoft (Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server, Microsoft Forefront Security for SharePoint)
– PCTOOLS (PCTools Antivirus)
– Proteatools (Protea AntiVirus Tools for Lotus Domino)
– Vida (Online WEB based scanner).

During the years the engine became more and more attractive option for developers, and this is justified by the two newest partnership agreement:

Kaspersky Lab – VirusBuster

The well known Russian security developer was interested in the VirusBuster engine on Linux and FreeBSD. In the present partnership, Kaspersky Lab uses the VirusBuster Virus Scan Engine binaries, interface and development headers on both platforms. The Linux version is used primarily for testing purposes, and the FreeBSD version is used in Kaspersky Hosted E-mail Security.

Kaspersky Hosted E-mail Security is a hosted (managed) security service that provides security for mail traffic and protection from email-specific threats – i. e. viruses, hacker attacks, and phishing attacks – before these threats reach a company's server. It scans customers' all incoming and outgoing SMTP traffic for viruses, spam, Trojans, and phishing.

"The most important criteria for us when choosing VirusBuster were stability of work and speed of processing. We were looking for a solution which supporting FreeBSD, and VirusBuster's scan engine with its wide range of supported platforms and excellent detection rates matched our needs perfectly". - said Mr. Andrey Nikishin, the Director of Kaspersky Lab's Hosted Security Services Business Unit.

2.) OPSWAT–VirusBuster
The OPSWAT partnership began in 2007. The latest developments are that two products of VirusBuster – VirusBuster Professional 5.x and VirusBuster for Windows Servers 5.x – acquired the OESISOK (OPSWAT Endpoint Security Integration SDK OK) qualification. This certification program verifies that security application will operate with network connectivity devices. The OESISOK logo proves that a security application interoperates with products from market-leading technology vendors, like Cisco, Juniper, NORTEL, 3Com, F5. Security applications without the OESISOK logo may not be detected by the network devices of these vendors. The OESISOK certification means that VirusBuster officially can be used in NAC, NAP and TNC solutions. These technologies protect the security of networks in the relation of newly connected IT-devices.

(The abbreviation consecutively mean: Network Access Control technology of Cisco, Microsoft's Network Access Protection system, and Trusted Network Connect network protection method introduced by Trusted Computing Group)

Beside the OESISOK certification the products of VirusBuster became a members of the small, but illustrious group of solutions used by OPSWAT's Metascan engine.

According to the philosophy behind Metascan, no single antivirus application will always catch every virus, trojan and worm. But you can improve the detection capability of your scanning solution by using Metascan, which is an advanced engine for launching antivirus applications, analyzing data streams in real time, and expediting file scanning. Metascan enables IT professionals and software engineers to develop multi-scanning solutions leveraging built-in antivirus engines from industry leading security vendors – like CA, ESET, Norman, VirusBuster EDK, MicroWorld, and ClamAV. Additionally, Metascan includes an easy, scalable interface to integrate these anti-viral systems."
