'Győr Spring Festival', March - 6 April

The festival generally opens with a parade in anticipation of spring. Famous stilt performers 'Langaléta Garabonciások' carry an oversized coffin through the city, representing the aged, melting winter which has seen better days. Participants symbolically burn the winter and hand in hand perform a dance of joy around the fire.

The Spring Dance Gala (Tavaszi Táncgála) is also a regular of the event series and consists of productions by Győr dance studios and sports associations. The audience is treated to choreography by outstanding performers of ballet, popular dance, exhibition dance, sport and fitness dances, rock, breakdance, modern, standard and Latin-American dances. Other 'must sees' are the famous musicians who perform at the International Percussion Festival (Nemzetközi Ütős Fesztivál) of Győr.

Sightseeing walking tours organised during the festival depart every Saturday at 10 am from the Town Hall (városháza). A Hungarian-speaking guide leads the tour for approximately one hour. Participation is free of charge.
