Szeged Cancels Airport Development |
"Szeged city council has cancelled the planned Ft 4 billion development project of its airport, deputy mayor Sándor Nagy announced. The expected number of passengers does not justify the project, Nagy explained. The Ft 300 million new terminal hall will still be built, but the city intends to finance it from subsidies. Szeged currently has a 1,185 metre runway but this should be extended to 2,500 metre in order to facilitate the hosting of 130-150-seater planes. Last year Szeged spent Ft 65 million on the operation of the airport and realised Ft 20 million revenues on licence fees and fuel sales."
