'Tales Of King Matthias', Budapest Festival Theatre, 1 October

'Tales Of King Matthias', Budapest Festival Theatre, 1 October
"The Budapest Dance Theatre evokes the world and times of King Matthias in this special presentation for youngsters, with authentic costumes and sets.

The performance not only tells the tales with a dynamic and versatile choreography but also presents the Hungarian language as it would have sounded in Matthias’ time.

King Matthias is one of the leading heroes of not just the Hungarians but other neighbouring peoples. Many stories and anecdotes are told about him. “Matthias the Just” travelled the country in disguise. During his travels, he encountered many problems, dishonesty and injustice which in his disguise, he often fell victim.

At the end of the story, his true persona is discovered. He punishes the sinners and rewards those suffering. Over the decades, fairy stories about King Matthias have evolved into tales which tell a general and eternally valid truth.
