"Officials from the French company that organises the annual Paris-Dakar rally are in talks with the Hungarian government on staging a supplementary Dakar rally in Hungary sometime in April. This year’s Dakar race was called off due to security concerns in Mauritania.The Amaury Sport Organisation envisages an 8-10 day race on the gravel tracks of shooting ranges around Várpalota and Veszprém, and plans to make up for the race that was called off earlier this month.
Local Governments Ministry state secretary István Ujhelyi promised to release details within a few days.
The annual Budapest-Bamako rally, which also passes through Mauritania, began last week."
