"The Competition Fever At Titanic Is Rising"

"The final line of battle is set up for the competing films at the 15th Titanic International Film Festival, which kicks off on the 3rd of April.

Mexico, Japan, France, Denmark, and Sweden will be competing for the 10 000-Euro Breaking Waves Award, beside a story of war between (step)brothers in the American film, Shotgun Stories; a thriller from Iceland, Jar City; and a Russian drama, The Swallows Have Arrived..

Hitoshi Yazaki will present modern-day Japan in his film, Strawberry Shortcakes through the story of four women from Tokyo. The Mexican film, Burn the Bridges, is another provocative piece, in which two emotionally unstable teenagers’ drama cries out to the world to say that we should not be afraid to leave our past behind in our quest to find our own voice.

La France is a love story, which, while set in World War I, is notable for its absence of scenes of romance or fighting. Instead, we are introduced to proud France from a new perspective. Northern Europe will get in the ring with two films this year. Just Another Love Story is a strongly ironic title to a Danish thriller exalted in romance.

The protagonist, Jones causes a serious car crash, but the real complications only hit in when his pretty victim starts recovering. The Swedish production in the competition section is Let me in, borrowing its title from Morrissey’s song ’Let the Right One Slip In’. This is a sometimes creepy, but thoroughly intelligent tale, adapted from John Ajvide Lindqvist’s bestseller, and talks about friendship, destiny, and the refusal of growing up.

Tickets for Titanic International Film Festival can be purchased in advance from the 27th of March for a 20% discount price in the Uránia, Örökmozgó, Toldi, and Vörösmarty cinemas."
