'The Nutcracker', Budapest Festival Theatre, 26 December
"The choreographers and performers of Beetle Tales and Peter Pan, encouraged by the success of these two productions, are now taking the story of the Nutcracker to the stage in two acts. This reworking of the fantastic dance show invokes, in a festive spirit, the memories of our childhood. It promises an unforgettable experience for children and adults alike, since Christmas can transport us from reality to a world of fantasy in the blink of an eye.

At the beginning of the story the main character, the little girl, and her family are seen under a splendorous Christmas tree, surrounded by presents.

A friend of the family gives the little girls an unusual nutcracker, shaped like a doll, which she plays with, before sitting it down in a chair and happily going to bed. In her dream the dolls come to life, but the idyllic scene is disrupted by the appearance of the evil Mouse King. In the battle that ensues, the nutcracker emerges triumphant, rescues the little girl and takes her with him to his kingdom.

There they are greeted by the gifts seen under the Christmas tree, and led onwards to the enchanting world of the palace of miracles...
