'The Subways', A38 Budapest, 30 March

'The Subways', A38 Budapest, 30 March
"Ever since the Welwyn Garden City based trio launched themselves onto the music scene in 2005, with their debut album ʻYoung For Eternityʼ, they seemed destined for greater things. Their second album in 2008, ʻAll Or Nothingʼ, ensured the band were here to stay.

Having earned praise from, and subsequently guest appearances with Oasis and Foo Fighters, they have spent the last few years rocking festivals throughout Europe, including Sziget in 2009.

They have headlined ever increasingly sized venues in Europe, America, Japan and Australia, with almost every date sold out in advance.
On a stage is where the band belongs. Billy smashes his way through the chords as every emotion imaginable comes through his vocal delivery.

Charlotte is the most hyperactive bass guitarist you will have the fortune to see, while Josh keeps it all together with a solid rhythm on the drums. The audience are lost in some kind of bliss where they are mesmerised, energised and mobilised all in one. I dare you not to throw your hands in the air during ʻOh Yeahʼ or not to jump up and down to ʻRock & Roll Queenʼ.

This is their first headline show in Budapest, and in such an intimate setting, the likes of which, you will probably never see them perform again. It comes at a time when the band continue to write for their eagerly anticipated third album.

Donʼt be the one who hangs their head in shame and utters the words ʻNo, I missed itʼ, when your friends ask you if you saw that kick ass
rock and roll band last night...The Subways.
