"Malév registered its two millionth revenue customer of the year travelling on a scheduled Malév flight on 24 August 2007, one week earlier than the previous year. Customer number two million picked out by the computer system, Andrea Lukács, was travelling on Malév flight No. 623 from Dublin to Budapest.Speaking on behalf of Malév Hungarian Airlines, Deputy Chief Commercial Officer András Zboray welcomed the company’s two millionth paying passenger of 2007 in the departures hall of Terminal 2A, Ferihegy International Airport. It is an established custom of the Hungarian national carrier to greet its one-, two- (and as from last year its three) millionth customer of the year.
Last year’s two millionth revenue customer was welcomed on 31 August.
Similarly to last year, this year too has seen dynamic growth in the number of Malév customers: during the first seven months of the year over 5% more travellers chose the Hungarian flag carrier compared to the identical period of 2006. As a result, Malév is able to welcome its two millionth revenue passenger of 2007 a week earlier than the year before. The increased traffic has also boosted first half revenues, up by around 7%.
The company has registered a considerable increase in passenger numbers on several routes. In the January-July period traffic growth was exceptional on the Copenhagen, Tel Aviv and Tirgu Mures routes. In load factor terms, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, London and Bucharest proved the most profitable routes in the first seven months of 2007.
Malév’s increasingly strong market position is due to its membership of oneworld as well as excellent scheduling, internationally-recognized onboard services and modern fleet.
The lucky two millionth passenger of the year received a complimentary ticket for two persons valid for any Malév destination in Europe."
