U.S. Embassy Promotes Good Corporate Governance, Business Integrity And Anti-Corruption
"To increase awareness and work for adoption of good corporate governance and ethical practices in Hungary, the Embassy organized a digital video conference with Dr. John D. Sullivan, Executive Director of the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) on November 19 as part of a one- day seminar by the American Chamber of Commerce in Hungary on corporate governance.

Dr. Sullivan talked about whether corporate governance structures of companies in transitional and emerging markets hinder the implementation of business integrity programs or whether it is rather the human factors and social cultures that create the corruption problems and assessed the success of training and awareness raising programs in disseminating and implementing good governance practices in countries in transition.

He also explained how the programs CIPE has developed help deal with the political pressures governments exert on businesses and how CIPE developed joint integrity education training programs for business and public policy actors.

The participants also discussed possibilities for control mechanisms against corruption."
