UK Investor No Longer Interested In FTC
"Scarborough Property Holdings said through its Hungarian subsidiary Esplanade Real Estate, that it does not intend to put in any further bid for the Ferencváros club (FTC) and its surrounding real estate. The company put in the only bid for FTC, but it was Ft 1 billion short of the Ft 4.15 billion minimum price.

Scarborough owner Kevin McCabe, chairman of Sheffield United Football Club, expressed deep disappointment Thursday. McCabe said the decision contradicts statements made by government officials in the past four years. He would not say whether he would sever his club’s links with FTC.

A representative of Neuchatel Financial Ltd., said to have Hong Kong backing, said the company would still be interested in buying the club and the property. Neuchatel issued a statement of intent in the bidding, but did not make an offer.

FTC, now in the second Hungarian football division, has amassed debts of Ft 2 billion.

FTC supporters plan to demonstrate outside the Finance Ministry on Saturday, as they believe that the “bleeding” of the club is deliberate.

Supporters club president Attila Kari told Magyar Nemzet that fans will be able to meet MNV CEO Miklós Tátrai today to learn about the failure of the tender."
