The demonstration was organised by the interest-protection association of grape growers who say cheap Italian imports make it impossible for Kunság winemakers to survive in the market.

The Pepco brand has been present so far in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia – however, its owner, the Pepkor holding group, also has interests in Africa and Australia.
