The paper quoted deputy state secretary for tourism Viktória Horváth as saying that though Russian tourists spent 11.7% more guest nights in Hungary in the first half of the year than in the same period of last year, the total number was below expectations.

The number of guest nights in commercial accommodation in Hungary rose an annual 13.5 percent to 1,096,000 in January, the Central Statistical Office said. The number of guest nights spent by foreign visitors rose 11.2% to 566,527. The number spent by Hungarian guests climbed 16% to 529,143.
