Online Discussion: Rule By Decree – Governance Of Hungary Today & Tomorrow
The majority of the Hungarian National Assembly – made up by the government party of the Fidesz – decided that the state of emergency would be indefinite and that the Prime Minister Viktor Orbán would be allowed to rule by decrees on the last week.

This means the end of the parliamentary system in Hungary for an unforeseeable future and questions the current state of a democracy the liberal foundations of which had already been weakened in the last decade.

Are you interested in these changes?: do they worry you or do you see the current situation still as hopeful? What can we do now, is there room or future for political activism in this regard? The Szabad Egyetem invites you to share your thoughts and discuss these questions through a joint online discussion.

The event will start with the presentation of our special guest from the Hungarian Helsinki Committee; then, we will have room to have a conversation about this situation, a particular one for Hungary and the contemporary World as well.
Place: Szabad Egyetem
Address: 1055 Budapest, Kossuth Lajos tér
