Open Seminar Series – Colonial Configurations: Race, Law & Justice
This talk by Prem Kumar Rajaram will examine the extent to which colonialism and colonial power are relevant to understanding the persistence of global social, economic and political inequalities.

Particular attention will be paid to the idea of justice and to the law, noting the extent to which the interests of economic elites take precedence. Further attention will be paid to the intersections of race and capitalism and the production of surplus and disposable labour.

Overall, the talk will try to address the extent to which the categories of governance of European colonialism of the 19th century remain relevant in social, political and economic structures.
