This tribute concert focusing on Dmitri Shostakovich features 20th-century Russian music and a Russian soloist. Violinist Sergei Krylov has been performing concerts all over the world since he was ten years old, which was in 1980. Today he is considered one of the most committed interpreters of the works of Shostakovich anywhere. It may well be that this artistic affinity is partly due to his youthful collaboration with Mstislav Rostropovich, who had earlier been Shostakovich's favourite musician and intimate confidant.
