Woody Allen’s New Play Set for World Premiere in Budapest this Autumn
Woody Allen’s newest theatrical venture, Brooklyn Story, is set for its world premiere at the Belvárosi Színház in Budapest. Scheduled for October 4, this debut is a significant event in the Hungarian cultural scene, presented by the Orlai Production Office.

Brooklyn Story, penned by Allen during the pandemic, delves into the philosophical question of whether art possesses the transformative power to improve individuals or steer those who have gone astray back to the right path. The narrative revolves around a gangster and his family, intricately linked to a stolen Raphael painting that becomes the target of an intense search across Europe.

The play promises a compelling storyline enriched with Allen’s characteristic wit and depth. Directed by the acclaimed Máté Szabó, the production boasts a talented ensemble of Hungarian actors, ensuring a high-quality theatrical experience.

This premiere marks a notable addition to Woody Allen’s extensive body of work and highlights the global reach of his influence in the arts. Theatre enthusiasts in Budapest are eagerly anticipating the debut, which underscores the city’s vibrant cultural landscape.
