Budapest Contemporary' Art Fair, Bálna Event Centre, 2 - 4 October
- 10 Sep 2026 7:18 AM
The fourth edition will bring together nearly 40 contemporary art galleries from Hungary and beyond. Among the participating spaces are acb Gallery, Einspach & Czapolai Fine Art, Kisterem, Nemes Gallery, Rechnitzer Gallery, Vintage Gallery, and Zsdrál Art.
The Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) will again present works by a new generation of artists, while a selection from the Horn Collection will occupy a prominent area of the fair, offering visitors a chance to see pieces from one of the country’s significant private holdings.
A new design section, titled A Collector’s Home, will examine the relationship between art and design through the imagined interior of a contemporary art collector. Rather than presenting objects in isolation, the section aims to show how design functions in everyday life and how it interacts with the artworks that share the same space.
In the fashion section, designer Kata Szegedi will focus on collaborations between her KATA SZEGEDI brand and contemporary artists. The booth will include works by visual artist Márton Nemes, photographer Ádám Jelen, and ceramic artist Anett Sáfrán, displayed alongside pieces from the brand’s handbag collection.
These elements will come together in a joint installation created with the participation of Dani Benus and Kata Szegedi, highlighting the overlaps between wearable design and visual art.
The Close to the Body exhibition, curated by art collector Katalin Spengler, will present contemporary jewelry through the work of 20 Hungarian artists. The show will be complemented by two chamber retrospectives that focus on the output of Veronika Fábián and Flóra Vági, offering a closer look at their approaches to materials, form, and concept within the field of jewelry art.
Alongside the exhibitions, the three-day program will include guided tours, professional and public talks, and activities designed for children. These elements are intended to make the fair accessible to a wider audience, from seasoned collectors to families exploring the city’s cultural offerings for the weekend.
