Major Waiting Time Reduction Plan Unveiled for Hungarian Hospitals
Speaking on the third stop of his nationwide tour, Magyar said waiting times would first be reduced in the areas with the longest queues, such as hip and knee replacement and cataract operations.

The programme will allocate 10 billion forints to expanding capacity and setting up new medical teams, with the aim of performing procedures not only during regular working hours but, where necessary, at night as well, he said. If successful, the programme will be extended to other areas, he added.

Magyar noted the government's pledge that maximum waiting times would be two months in outpatient care and six months in inpatient care. "We are still far from that today," he said.

Concerning health care, he also announced that in 2027, the Tisza government's first full year in office, the sector would receive 500 billion forints more than in 2026.
