May 1st (Labour Day) falls on a Friday this year, giving most people in Hungary a three-day long weekend. As it is a national public holiday, the majority of shops across the country will be closed.
Adding to the excitement, Mother’s Day falls on 3 May, so many flower shops will extend their opening hours this Sunday to accommodate shoppers.
Family-friendly holiday programmes and public celebrations are planned nationwide.
