Audi Cancels Gyõr ETO Sponsorship

Car maker Audi announced on Saturday that it has cancelled its sponsorship contract with football club Gyõri ETO, due to the scandal of the Quaestor financial group. Quaestor owns the sports club, as well as its stadium, and the attached shopping mall and hotel.

US audio equipment maker Harman, which supplies audio systems to carmakers such as Audi, BMW, Daimler, Porsche and Land Rover, is undertaking a 3.5 billion forint (EUR 11.4m) expansion in Pécs, in southwest Hungary. The investment will create 420 jobs, raising Harman’s headcount in Hungary to over 2,000.

RTL Group recorded 77 million euros of goodwill impairment at its Hungarian unit last year in an earnings report on the back of the “punitive” ad tax that came into effect in August 2014. RTL Hungary had negative EBITDA of 1 million euros last year, compared with a positive 15 million in 2013.
