The St Andrew's Ball is now an established Scottish entry into the year’s social calendar - thanks to lots of hard work by the St Andrew's Association team, it's becoming a well-oiled machine. Held at the Budapest Marriott Hotel last Saturday, in the main ballroom this year, it was a 'full house' expat community event.

With temperatures plummeting to nearly -20°C, local staff and expat customers of this Scottish pub have been donating ingredients and time to make hundreds of litres of soup for the homeless in Budapest.

The Gabrieli Choir's final concert before the summer break takes place on Friday 10th June at the Herminamezői Szentlélek templom (Bp., XIV., Kassai tér), starting at half past seven. There are four contrasting works on the programme - dating from the 18th to the 21st centuries - and chief of these is a joyful jazz mass: the Mass in Blue by Will Todd (1970- ).

When in a dimly lit church under georgeous gothic arches, a cathedral choir of men and small boys silently take their seats on the richly carved wooden choir seats, you instantly feel that something extraordinary is going to happen. When music starts, the remarkably crystal clear, heavenly sound is unforgettable.
