Hungary’s cash flow-based budget, excluding local councils, ran an 816.8 billion forint deficit at the end of July, preliminary data released by the Economy Ministry on Monday show. The shortfall was 70.03 percent of the 1,166.4 billion forint full-year target.

There were a record number of European Union infringement proceedings against Hungary in 2016, reports Index.hu. According to the EU’s 2016 report, there are 57 ongoing infringement cases against Hungary, a five-year record for the country. Still, Hungary is situated only somewhere in the middle of the playing field of Member States facing infringement proceedings.
