Yvette Bozsik Company: 'Antigone', National Dance Theatre Budapest, 27 December
The Antigone, like Oedipus Rex, is based on the Theban plays.

In Sophocles’s drama, on the basis of which the musical was composed, Antigone's brothers die by each other's hands, the King calls one of them a traitor, but Antigone wants to bury him despite his command.

In the ancient Greek story, morality comes to power, love is trying to overcome the law, but the story eventually ends up in tragedy.

The play is a shocking demonstration of the conflict between law and morality. Yvette Bozsik's choreography captures the fate of the Greek drama and its current message in dramatic pictures and movements, in harmony with music, the stage scene and the radiance of the dancers.

The dramatic Antigone opera written in 1949 by Carl Orff is re-written and covered using contemporary sounds and effects by Philippe Heritier, a Swiss composer living in Paris.
