Scenic Buda Cogwheel Trains Back on Saturday
Following the completion of track maintenance work, Budapest Transport route 60 – commonly known as the cogwheel railway in Buda – will be back in service from Saturday.

However, services will only work according to passenger requests in the early morning and late evening hours.

Trains will run according to the scheduled timetable between 5:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. on weekdays, and 7:30 and 10 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Outside these hours, passengers need to order a train 30 minutes prior to wishing to depart via a train order system dubbed “Telefogas”.

The Budapest Transport Centre is seeking to reduce noise pollution with the train order system.

In the event of an order, the train will only run as far as a station requested by the customer in question.

Trains outside the normal scheduled services can be ordered online on the telefogas.bkk.hu website or in person at the Városmajor terminus.
