New Speed Cameras in Budapest
Mayor Gergely Karácsony announced on Thursday morning that police will deploy four new speed cameras in Budapest in response to a series of fatal traffic accidents in the city.

He said accidents leading to ten deaths occurred in Budapest in the past six weeks alone, and that is why it is necessary to deploy the devices.

“The common efforts of the city and Budapest Police will not end with this; we consider it necessary to deploy more cameras”, the mayor stressed in a Facebook post.

He added that this fits the city’s transport strategy, which will soon be made public.

“Our goal is to reduce the number of severely injured people and fatalities in public road accidents by 50% by 2030 and to zero by 2050”, he declared.
