1. Enjoy the panoramic view of Budapest from Gellért Hill
Take a walk from Saint Gellért Square up to Gellért Hill with its blossoming trees, and soak up the pleasant spring sun. On the side of Gellért Hill, you will find a very popular photo spot from where you can enjoy an amazing view of Liberty Bridge and the River Danube, while taking wonderful spring photos in the shade of almond-blossom trees.
2. Walk among the pink decorative cherry trees of Tóth Árpád Promenade
Tóth Árpád Promenade in the Buda Castle District is certainly one of the most beautiful tree-lined streets in the Hungarian capital. The pink decorative cherry blossoms of the promenade, which looks over the capital, provide a stunning experience and panorama. Stroll along the promenade, take some beautiful pictures, and sit on a bench and admire the amazing panorama over Buda.
3. Take a walk in the Japanese Garden of Margaret Island
The Margaret Island provides a real green oasis for the city and is unmissable for spring outdoor activities. A walk on the Margaret Island is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the capital: the fresh smell of spring flowers, the green trees and the buzz of bees create an idyllic atmosphere. 4. Explore the Füvészkert Botanical Garden
The Füvészkert Botanical Garden in the city centre is one of Budapest’s oldest botanical gardens, bursting with colour and fragrance in the spring months. In the arboretum you can find exotic plants and botanical rarities. Enjoy the calming effect of nature in the Füvészkert Botanic Garden and admire the colourful flowers and trees.
5. Budapest Zoo and Botanical Gardens
The Japanese Garden in Budapest’s Zoo and Botanical Gardens, is worth a stroll any time of the year, but during the cherry blossom season, it is a truly special experience. The decorative flowering cherry trees, Japanese peonies, bonsai trees and other botanical attractions are all wonderful in spring. During a relaxing walk in the Japanese Garden you can meet the zoo animals – a perfect family activity.
6. Hike up to Normafa
Normafa is a popular hiking spot in the Buda Hills with its fresh air, birdsong, and trees blossoming in the spring sunshine. There are also breathtaking views from here over Budapest. Normafa is the perfect place for a walk, picnic or even a bike ride - but don’t forget your sunglasses!
7. Explore the idyllic Romai ‘Strand’
As spring awakens, so life sparkles on the Romai shore of the Danube (Roman Strand) with its pleasant atmosphere and great places to eat. It is true that the strand is a little far from the city centre, but it’s definitely worth the trip, offering a relaxing experience in the beautiful natural of the Romai shore.
The sparkling water of River Danube, the pleasant sunshine and the green trees are perfect for a peaceful walk or a picnic. In warmer weather, you can even paddle a SUP or go kayaking on the Danube.
