Time Out Market Budapest will have an indoor area of almost 2,500 sqm on the first floor and a further 775 sqm of outdoor space on the roof terrace, with 14 kitchens, four bars, an event hall, and seating for around 800 people, providing ample space to celebrate the culinary and cultural talents of the city and Hungary.
Guests will be able to enjoy dishes from award-winning chefs, popular local chefs, and up-and-coming restaurateurs, as well as a range of drinks, including cocktails from the most imaginative mixologists.
As well as showcasing the best of the city, Time Out Market's philosophy is to make prominent local culinary and cultural experiences accessible to all, bringing guests together at communal tables in a specially designed venue.
Time Out Market says that it is committed to working with local businesses and suppliers, as making Budapest residents feel at home is at the heart of its concept.
To compile the Time Out Market's culinary offering, the Time Out team will compile a list of places that make the city a vibrant culinary scene and then select the most exciting and ambitious local leaders in this field.
Part of this process involves finding and tasting the city's current best and then inviting the very best of them to join the market. But it's not just about 'big names'.
The city's up-and-coming chefs with a promising future and hidden gems will also be showcased.
This will be the first Time Out Market venue in Hungary. The first Time Out Market opened in Lisbon in 2014 as the world's first carefully curated gastronomic and cultural market.
Subsequently, more Time Out Markets have opened around the world, spotlighting the gastronomic and cultural scene and diverse talents of their host cities. Although this concept is now popular in many cities, each Market is designed to be specifically local.
The Time Out publication itself was launched in 1968 from a kitchen table in London to help people more easily discover the exciting new urban cultures emerging across the city.
Today, teams of local expert journalists around the world work to select and compile a list of the best things to do, see and eat in 333 cities in 59 countries, and then showcase them on websites, social media, videos, newsletters, podcasts and live events.
Sandy Hayek, CEO of Time Out Market, said, "Budapest is one of Europe's most beautiful and vibrant cities, where locals and tourists alike come to enjoy themselves."
She also added that the Hungarian capital has a vibrant and diverse gastronomic scene, which Time Out is looking to bring under one roof with Time Out Market Budapest.
The minority owners of Corvin Palace, Olivér Balogh and Viktor Balogh added: "Corvin Palace is the oldest department store in Budapest. We are proud to have been able to restore its former glory while creating new value through the modern mixed use of the legendary building. This is an ambitious project, so our aim was to include a great gastronomic and cultural marketplace to complement the excellent retail and entertainment facilities, as well as a hotel. We are delighted that we will soon welcome Time Out Market Budapest to the Corvin Palace."
