“Austrian-owned furniture manufacturing group Ada is expanding its Hungarian production capacity with an investment of 5.2 billion forints (EUR 16.8 million), towards which the Hungarian Government is providing one billion forints in non-returnable funding, 20 percent of the total cost of the project”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced.

Hungarian inflation was an annual 2.1 percent in December, slowing from 2.5 percent in November, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Friday. For the full year, consumer prices were up an annual 2.4 percent in 2017. Food prices rose by 3.5 percent and the price of tobacco and spirits jumped by 6.8 percent.

The International Monetary Fund forecasts Hungary’s GDP growing by 2.8% in 2019. The IMF’s regional economic outlook report for Europe November issue said domestic demand was likely to expand by 2.7%, while gross investment as a share of GDP could reach 20.9%. It forecast annual inflation at 3% and unemployment at 4.3%.

German companies operating in Hungary continue to feel satisfied and optimistic about their business, a recent survey by the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DUIHK) shows. In almost all answers, managers were even more optimistic than the already very good results of the chamberʼs survey published in April.
